ROBERT Ernest Robinson was born in Chesterton, Cambridge in late 1889.With the outbreak of the Great War he enlisted as as a private (no3222) with the Suffolk Yeomanry and served in Egypt from the 8th October,1915 and having been appointed acting Sergeant latterly transferring as a Sergeant (no 56141) to the Machine Gun Corps, being commissioned as a 2nd Lieut on 17th November, 1917 and serving with the 46th Btn Machine Gun Corps, he died of wounds one day after the cessation of hostilities on 12th November, 1918.He is buried at Tourgeville Military Cemetery.Aged 29 at the time of his death.He was the Son of Robert and Elizabeth Robinson, of 11,Kimberley Road,Chesterton, Cambridge.
He is also remembered on The Chesterton War Memorial.
