Elton Henry Humpherus was born 17th January 1896 in Kent, his Father was Elton Herbert Humpherus who had served with 4th Volunteer Btn East Kent Regiment.
On the 1901 census he is shown as living with his parents at The Bower, Staplehurst, Kent.
He was commissioned as as 2md Lieut on the 5th January 1915, add served with the East Kent Regiment in Egypt from 03/12/1915 before serving with the Indian Army Reserve of Officers, attached to 2/23rd Rifles.
He appears in The Army lists for WW2, first gazetted (former Indian Army Res.of Off) 20th November 1939
Held an emergency commission with the regular army with the Royal West Kent Regiment
