Bagrie was reported as wounded in action on two occasions, firstly in a list of wounded as reported in the "War office Weekly" casualty list issue of 11th September 1917, then is recorded as having been "wounded in action" Gassed and suffering from shock, in 1918,which was reported in the Aberdeen Weekly Journal issue of 16th August 1918: "Private George Bagrie Gordon Highlanders has been admitted to hospital in England, wounded, gassed and suffering from shock .He was previously on the the Post Office staff at Newcastle .He was one of five brothers who served, one of whom was killed in action with the Gordons on 10th November 1916.
He was awarded the Imperial Service Medal, London Gazette 28th August, 1915: Bagrie Robert, Postal and Telegraph Officer, Newcastle-on-Tyne.
