Miniature Medal Group of four:
British War and Victory Medal,1902 Coronation Medal,1911 Coronation Medal. On original wearing bar and pin, mounted on board with pips and crowns, as removed from an old frame .Also comes with an original photo of Colonel Carthew.
Colonel Ranulphus John Carthew was born in 1863.
He was commissioned as Lieutenant into the Royal Artillery Militia 3rd Brigade Eastern Division (London Gazette October 16, 1885.
He is listed as Lieutenant Colonel ,and Honorary Colonel in the Suffolk Royal Field Reserve Artillery, London Gazette June 22nd 1909.In World War One he served as a Colonel on the Staff.(Special Appt)
He was a J.P and Chairman of Woodbridge Urban District Council. He was also the first director of the Suffolk branch of the British Red Cross Society which was formed in 1909.He was also a noted Numismatist ,a member of both the British Numismatic Society and the Royal Numismatic Society. He collected Seventeenth Century Trade Tokens.
He lived at the Abbey, Woodbridge ,and died in 1943.
