Long Service Medal, named to: J,86429 L.TEL.H.M.S.ROYAL OAK.
1939/45 Star, Atlantic Star with France and Germany clasp(loose) Africa Star, Italy Star and 1939/45 War Medal.
The first two good very fine, mounted on pin as worn,the WW2 War Medals "minty" with box of issue (A/F) showing part of an Address in Blundeston, Suffolk, address being partially ripped off when box was opened. Cellophane envelopes inside box, comes with Naval medal slip which states 6 as number of stars, etc.
Hector Rumsby was born on 12th April 1901.He enlisted in the Royal Navy on 19th February 1918 as Boy II on Ganges, Boy Telegrapher December 1918.Later served on Repulse and Hood. He received his Long Service Medal on 04/07/1934.second set of papers go up to 1941showing last ship/base served on was Nile from 28th Feb 1940 to 12th April 1941 when it states reservist. Last entry 31/12/1941. Released 08/10/1945.
Also comes a copied Birth certificate showing he was born at Somerleyton, Suffolk, and hid death certificate showing his occupation as a Railway Porter and living at Raglan Cottage, Lound Road, Blundeston, Suffolk.He died on 31st October, 1969 from heart failure,
Comes with copied medal roll showing BWM as sole entitlement and a copy of his 2 sets of Naval Papers. Also a "risque"joke" (for the time) typed on the reverse of a W/T message form.
His brother, Arnold died serving with the Royal Navy in WW1.
