Thomas Roke was born in Hackney, London on 28th February 1895.He joined The Royal Navy on 1th November 1914,trade give as a gate maker.He served on H.M.S. King Edward V11 as a Cooks Mate and would have been on board on January 6th 1916 when she hit a German mine off Cape Wrath where she sank without loss of life. He transferred to The Royal Naval Air Service on 31st May, 1916 and was serving on Daedalus when the R.A.F was formed 1st April 1918.His trade was Cook and Butcher.Served in Iraq with 30 Squadron from 03/11/1921-23/12/1923.Hospitalised B.S.Hospital, Baghdad,from13/06/1922 to 22/06/1922.GSM clasp Kurdistan confirmed on papers.Discharged 10th November, 1926.Recalled from Royal Air Force Reserve 25/08/1939, promoted to Flight Sergeant 01/05/1941
