Geoffrey Spencer was born on 16th August 1916.He enlisted in The Lancashire Constabulary on 2nd July 1938, badge no: 2480.He was allowed to enlist in The R.A.F. as a Pilot or Observer under the terms of The Police and Firemen ( War Service) act 1939.He transferred to the Army on 26/03/1945.Re-appointed to the Force after being released from the Army on 25th September 1945.Papers show his various promotions and pay-he was appointed Inspector on 25/10/1960 and acting Chief Constable on 02/07/1968.
