Benjamin Pye was born in Plumstead, Norfolk,He attested for the 2/9th Foot on 24th December, 1857 aged 14 years.
He served in India, China Mediterranean and Afghanistan.He broke his arm on service in Afghanistan,which partly led to him being discharged unfit on 29th June, 1880,having served for 23 years.He is also entitled to an I.G.S clasp JOWAKI 1877-78.Having been a bit of a naughty boy, he did not receive the L.S.G.C.Medal.
