Pte William Kelly was born in Galway, Ireland around 1864.He attested for the West Yorkshire Regiment on 10th December, 1887, having previously served in the 4th (Militia?) Btn.of the West Yorks Regt.
He served at Home, India and South Africa, being discharged on medical grounds(Invalided due to gunshot wound) on 11th February 1901.He resided at 19, Spring Street, Leeds.
