Richard Embling was born in Farringdon,Berks in 1878,and joined the Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1898.He was a prominent Sportsman,and was a member of the Football,Hockey and Bayonet fighting teams.He landed in France on 6th November,1914,and apart from his decorations, was also awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.He was discharged in 1920, and died in 1959 in Croydon.
