Medal is extremely fine, and looks as issued, should also be entitled to the TIRAH 1897-98 clasp, but the entry on the medal roll against the clasp looks to have been rubbed out. Single clasp is confirmed on his papers.
William Smith was born at New Mill, Keith, Banffshire around 1878.He attested for the 3rd Btn Gordon Highlanders on the 20th February, 1896.
Discharged as medically unfit 1899 enteric Fever causing thrombosis in both legs.
